Lucky 7 Years in Business

2020 marks a new decade.
It also marks the 35th anniversary of the National Association of Productivity & Organizing Professionals (NAPO)
AND it marks my 7th year in business. It was 7 years ago this month that I joined NAPO.
The president of NAPO sent out a message in celebration of NAPO's founding back in 1985 (when I was 6-years-old). She highlighted some events of that year which include:
The Internet's Domain Name System was created, the first .com.
Microsoft Corporation released the first version of Windows, Windows 1.0.
The charity single record “We are the World” was recorded by USA for Africa, and the Live Aid concert raised $127 million for famine relief in Africa.
More than 20 percent of American homes had a VCR, and the first Blockbuster Video opened.
The first Nintendo home video game console in the United States was released as the Nintendo Entertainment System.
The movie “Back to the Future” was released.
The Food and Drug Administration approved a blood test for AIDS, used since then to screen all blood donations in the United States.
I couldn't help but think back to Classically Organized's own founding year - 2013.
Here are some events that happened that year:
The movie "Argo" won best picture at the Oscars.
Angelina Jolie announced her elective double mastectomy to potentially avoid breast cancer.
Billionaire Jeff Bezos bought The Washington Post.
Twitter successfully rolled out its IPO.
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ “Thrift Shop” was the #1 hit on the Billboard 100 chart.
National Security Administration contractor Edward Snowden blew the whistle on US surveillance measures.
The first flying car, known as The Transition, was tested publicly.
House of Cards debuted on Netflix and went on to win 3 Emmy awards.
I truly feel blessed to have been in business since 2013.
The quotable stat is that 20% of businesses fail in their first year and 50% of businesses fail by their fifth year. Woo hoo, lucky 7 for me!
I wanted to share with you two messages from clients I received recently that made a world of difference to me and that reinforces that I'm on the right path in helping people by supporting them to lead more organized lives.
A client of mine (mother of 2 kids) posted this on Facebook and tagged me:
Dear Sarah, I'm so glad that you, and Classically Organized, gave S and I some of the tools to clean out the clutter. You would have been so proud of us. We did the little room today, pretty much everything S owns and some of K's stuff. 2 trash bags, 4 donate containers and one freecycle bag. Still need to go through to root out the little boy games and books from the teen boy stuff but we are getting there. We are forever grateful for helping us take the first step. S did great letting go of stuff - much better than he used to. Thank you for getting the ball rolling. I hope you can come back soon. Love, me.
P.S. for anyone looking for help organizing their stuff, my friend Sarah, and Classically Organized, is amazing. 100% recommend her. She had great ideas for decluttering and organizing. She's great with kids - even littles!
A new client of mine sent me this email after only our second session:
Sarah,
I wanted to thank you.
You helped me so much. The bathroom looks great. And I will keep it that way. And I don’t waste time looking for my razor.
Every clear space feels so good.
Saturday, we filled up 3 large outside garbage cans which will be picked up tomorrow morning.
My cousin’s visit was not embarrassing for me at all. We had a great time. She loved the bathroom too.
I am not going to any stores (except grocery) until I see you again.
I am going to fill out the forms you gave me. Only 1 non-food item has come in the house (folding readers glasses.).
But to sum up, this is the first time I have been optimistic about my house.
I am beginning to feel very positive about the idea of entertaining in the upstairs of
my house.
Thanks again and sorry for the long email.
Talk about the warm and fuzzies! I am so grateful to the clients I work with for letting me into their homes and lives. How great is my job?!
Happy 7 years to me... and many more!!
YOU - my readers, followers, colleagues, clients, friends, and family help make my business a success.
THANK YOU!
