My 2021 Focus Word

I've chosen the word I want to guide me this upcoming year.

If you've been following me for a little while, you know that instead of New Year's Resolutions, I like to choose a focus word for the year. This one word acts as my beacon of light for the next 365 days.

In 2016 I chose STRETCH and in 2017 I chose BLEND. You can read more about them HERE.

In 2018 I chose LISTEN.

In 2019 I chose SHED. You can read how I did at the end of the year HERE.

In 2020 I chose CONTENT. You can read how I did at the end of the year HERE.

So what's my word for 2021??

I have chosen ** FAITH. **

I'm almost looking at it as a continuation of my 2020 word which was content as this quote hits the point home:

"Human history is the long terrible story of man trying to find something other than God which will make him happy." -C.S. Lewis

There are two definitions of faith I subscribe to:

  1. complete trust or confidence in someone or something

  2. strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof

I felt this term was fitting for the year ahead as I need to have FAITH that I will be able to get my business back to an even keel and growing given the stagnation that occurred in 2020.

And I need to rely on my FAITH to grieve the awful things that happened in 2020 (and the start of 2021!) and trust that things will get better and that we will heal and thrive in the 'new normal' that lies ahead. #faithoverfear

I also chose FAITH as I really felt there was a part of me that was missing last year when I was unable to attend mass at my Catholic church. TV services just aren't the same!

Here are some FAITH quotes that resonate with me:

Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

Faith is the strength by which a shattered world shall emerge into the light.

Helen Keller

Faith gives you an inner strength and a sense of balance and perspective in life

Gregory Peck

Faith and prayer are the vitamins of the soul; man cannot live in health without them.

Mahalia Jackson

What's your focus word this year?

Was it influenced by the events of 2020?
